Cancel a Pro subscription
If you’re on a free Pro trial instead of a paid subscription, follow the steps in Cancel your Pro trial instead.
In order to cancel your Pro subscription, simply stop your Pro plan from automatically renewing itself. To do this, you need to turn it off based on the payment method you used:
Note
Credit & Debit card payments made through Todoist will be set to auto-renew by default. Here’s how to turn it off:
- Log in to your Todoist account on https://todoist.com.
- Click your avatar at the top-left.
- Select Settings.
- Select Subscription.
- Click Cancel plan.
- Choose a reason for the cancellation. You can also share feedback on what we could improve.
- Click Cancel subscription to confirm.
What happens next depends on your subscription:
- If you’re on a monthly plan, or outside the 30-day refund window on a yearly plan:
You’ll see the option to cancel your subscription, and it will remain active until the end of your current billing period. - If you’re within the 30-day refund window on a yearly plan you'll see two options:
- Cancel at the end of your billing period.
- End the subscription immediately and receive a refund.
Select your preferred option, then click Cancel subscription to confirm.
Please note that PayPal is no longer available as a payment option. Any past payments made using PayPal will not auto-renew.
App Store subscriptions auto-renew by default, so you need to cancel the subscription in your Apple Account settings. On your iPhone or iPad:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap Todoist.
- Tap Cancel Subscription.
On a Mac or another device, follow Apple’s instructions for canceling a subscription.
Google Play subscriptions may or may not auto-renew depending on many factors. Please check your Google Play account and verify if there is a recurring Todoist subscription there. If there is, remove it directly.
Todoist Pro payments made through the Microsoft Store won’t auto-renew.
What changes when I move from Pro to Beginner?
Your Pro features stay active until the end of your current billing period. After that, your account moves to the Beginner plan. All of your tasks, projects, and comments are kept, but the Beginner plan’s usage limits apply:
- Active personal projects drop from 300 to 5. Projects above the limit become view-only, oldest first, until you archive or delete some or upgrade again.
- Custom filters drop from 150 to 3. Extra filters are kept, but you can’t open them until you upgrade again.
- Activity history shows the last 7 days instead of your full history.
- Automatic backups stop, and you can’t create new ones. Backups created before you canceled stay available.
- File uploads are limited to 5 MB instead of 25 MB.
You also lose access to Pro-only features. Anything you already added stays on your tasks, but you can’t add or edit it until you upgrade again:
- Calendar layout, task durations, time blocking, and deadlines
- Custom reminders, including time-based, location-based, and recurring reminders
- Project Insights
- Todoist Assist, Email Assist, and capturing tasks from text, images, and documents
- Unlimited Ramble sessions (the Beginner plan includes 10 sessions per month)
For the full breakdown, including how to tell which projects are view-only and how to unlock them, see What happens when I downgrade my plan?
Not sure which account your subscription is linked to?
If you want to cancel but you’re not sure which account your subscription is linked to, here’s how to find it. These steps apply to both Pro and Business plans.
- Check whether you signed up with a different email address. Your subscription may be linked to another account you own.
- Get in touch with us if you still can’t locate the account, and share the following details so we can find it for you:
- The last 4 digits of the card that was charged
- The card brand (Visa, Mastercard, etc.)
- The card’s expiry date

Business subscription FAQ
When you join a Business team, the unused time on your individual Todoist Pro subscription is converted into account credit, and your individual Pro subscription ends. After you leave the team, your account returns to the Beginner plan instead of your previous Pro plan.
To use Pro again, upgrade to Pro on the Todoist website and pay with a credit or debit card. Your remaining credit is then applied to the payment automatically.
Your credit can only be used with credit or debit card payments, so it can’t be applied to an App Store or Google Play subscription. If you have any questions about your credit, get in touch with us.
If you’ve canceled your Business subscription within 30 days of purchase, please contact us to receive a refund.
Absolutely! Your team will be downgraded but all your projects and tasks will still be available.
